What are the qualifying conditions in Arizona?

Under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act (AMMA), patients must have at least one of the following conditions to be eligible:

  • Cancer

  • Glaucoma

  • HIV/AIDS

  • Hepatitis C

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

  • Crohn’s disease

  • Agitation of Alzheimer’s disease

  • Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Chronic pain (one of the most common qualifying reasons)

  • Seizure disorders (including epilepsy)

  • Severe nausea

  • Cachexia (wasting syndrome)

  • Severe and persistent muscle spasms (including those caused by multiple sclerosis)

Additionally, the law allows for any condition or treatment that causes severe symptoms such as:

  • Severe nausea

  • Severe and chronic pain

  • Severe muscle spasms

  • Seizures

  • Cachexia/wasting syndrome
