Missouri law allows both medical marijuana patients/caregivers and adult recreational consumers to cultivate cannabis at home, but only if they first obtain a state‑issued cultivation identification card. Without this card, home growing is illegal.

  • Medical Patients & Caregivers

    • Patients with a cultivation card may grow six flowering plants, six non‑flowering plants, and six clones.

    • Caregivers can cultivate the same number of plants for each patient they are registered to assist.

    • All plants must be grown in a locked, enclosed space at the patient’s or caregiver’s primary residence.

  • Adult Recreational Consumers (21+)

    • Adults with a personal cultivation license may also grow six flowering plants, six non‑flowering plants, and six clones.

    • The same security requirements apply: plants must be kept in a locked, enclosed area.

    • Cultivation is strictly for personal use — selling homegrown cannabis is prohibited.

  • Maximum Plant Count in a Household

    • If multiple licensed individuals live in the same household, the maximum is 12 flowering plants, 12 non‑flowering plants, and 12 clones.

    • Each set of plants must be clearly labeled with the corresponding patient or consumer’s cultivation paperwork.

Violating these limits or failing to secure plants properly can result in fines, loss of cultivation privileges, or criminal charges.
