No, the state of Maine does not issue these types of temporary certifications. Nor are they considered valid if from another state. To qualify for Maine's MMJ program, a resident must obtain a "valid written certification" issued by a medical marijuana health professional that is licensed by the Department. Maine law dictates that these certifications are only considered valid if it is "a document on tamper-resistant paper signed by the medical provider." These stipulations were included in the marijuana legislation to prevent any tampering with legitimate marijuana authorizations.
