In Ohio, medical marijuana patients can legally possess up to a 90‑day supply, with exact limits depending on the product type. Ohio law defines a “90‑day supply” in very specific terms. Patients and caregivers may possess the following amounts within each 90‑day period:

  • Plant Material (Flower)

    • Up to 8 ounces of Tier I flower (≤23% THC).

    • Up to 5.3 ounces of Tier II flower (>23% THC).

  • Cannabis Oil

    • Up to 53.1 grams of THC in oil form.

  • Edibles / Tinctures

    • Up to 9.9 grams of THC.

  • Topicals (Creams, Ointments, Patches)

    • Up to 26.55 grams of THC.

These limits are designed to ensure patients have consistent access while preventing diversion into the recreational market. Patients must purchase products only from licensed dispensaries, and possession beyond these limits can result in penalties.

Recreational vs. Medical

  • Medical Patients: Bound strictly by the 90‑day supply rules above.

  • Recreational Users (21+): Since Issue 2 passed in November 2023, adults may possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and 15 grams of concentrates for personal use.
